What is Bolsa do Povo?

This program is considered the largest social program in the history of the state of São Paulo.

It was created to meet the primary needs of vulnerable families, especially those who lost their primary source of income during the pandemic.

With Bolsa do Povo, families have access to a package that includes other well-known social programs and new ones.

See some of the programs below:

Citizen Income

This program is intended for families experiencing difficulties caused by a lack of income, i.e., unemployment or underemployment.

Generally, the families that benefit are those that do not have an income due to special factors, for example:

  • Illiteracy;
  • Precarious health situation;
  • Lack of professional qualifications;
  • Chemical dependency.

This way, families end up receiving an income to help with expenses. To apply, you must be registered with Cadúnico and meet certain requirements.

Go to your city's CRAS (Brazilian Social Assistance Center) and see if you are eligible to receive Renda Cidadã (Citizen Income). If so, take advantage and register.

Fast Track Program

This is another program included in the Bolsa do Polvo program. Through it, young people who enroll in Via Rápida courses are entitled to a scholarship worth R$1,400,000.

This program already existed, however, its courses and scholarships were only intended for former inmates and inmates in semi-open regimes.

After the pandemic, the government decided to include unemployed students.

Work Grant Program

This program was created with the aim of providing professional training and a grant to the unemployed.

The unemployed people covered by the program are assigned to work in their city hall or public agencies.

However, it's only part-time, and they also receive a stipend that can reach up to the minimum wage. The payments are made over a period of up to five months.

Youth Action Program

This program aims to socially include young people between the ages of 15 and 24 through different actions.

Among the activities promoted by Ação Jovem, we find support for professional initiation and temporary financial support from the state.

Gas Valley

This is another benefit included in the Bolsa do Povo program. It provides vulnerable families with a bimonthly allowance of R$1,400.00 toward the purchase of a gas cylinder.

Sports Talent Scholarship

With this program, athletes from school sports, Olympic and Paralympic modalities who intend to represent the state or country in national or international competitions receive financial support.

The scholarship is divided into categories, therefore, each one has a value, but the amount varies from R$450.00 to R $2,490.

Athletes can receive the scholarship for up to one year, but there is the possibility of extension.

Interested parties can fill out the registration form here.

Social Rent

Social Rent is a benefit transferred to low-income families who have nowhere to live or no way to pay rent.

This benefit is paid for one year, however, it can be extended after evaluation.

SP Welcomes

SP Acolhe was a benefit created post-pandemic to compensate families who lost at least one member to Covid-19.

This type of emergency aid intended for this group can reach up to R$1,800.00.

To find out if you are eligible to receive it, visit the portal SP Welcomes.

How does the Bolsa do Povo card work?

THE People's Exchange It brings together different programs into one. Besides unifying some existing programs, it also included others.

The benefits are coordinated by different departments, and some involve direct income transfer.

In this case, the Bolsa do Povo card is made available, allowing beneficiaries to access the benefit amounts for which they were awarded.

This card arrives at the homes of families eligible for some of the social programs belonging to Bolsa do Povo via the Post Office.

Before using it, the citizen must unlock it at a Banco do Brasil ATM or at banking correspondents affiliated with BB, for example, lottery outlets.

To withdraw money, you must create a protocol and password on the Bolsa do Povo website or by calling 0800 7979 800.

Where to use money?

Well, there are no restrictions on how to use the money, that is, if you receive the benefit, the government does not force you to use it in a certain area.

However, the recommendation is that they be used in the areas for which they were intended.

For example, Vale Gás should be used to buy gas, and Auxílio Moradia should be used to pay rent or housing expenses.

How to participate in the Program?

The main requirement to participate in this program is to be registered with Cadúnico.

Furthermore, we know that these programs are exclusive to families in vulnerable or low-income situations.

However, if you meet these two requirements, it is easier to participate in the program.

Once this is done, you register with Bolsa do Povo.

Then, you search for the benefit that meets your needs and see if you are eligible.

Each program or benefit has its own rules and requirements that must be met.

Therefore, to find out what they are, access the gov.br website, select the program and check all the information and amounts they pay.

Additionally, you can search for the Cras unit closest to your home.

You will only be able to register for Bolsa do Povo programs if you are registered with Cadúnico.

Conclusion

Bolsa do Povo was a measure by the São Paulo State Government to reduce the impacts on the financial lives of families in the state post-pandemic.

Unfortunately, the amounts distributed are low in some programs, in fact, in most of them, and certainly do not cover half of the expenses of the needs for which they were intended.

However, the funds have helped thousands of families in situations of social vulnerability in some way, and they are certainly missed.

Therefore, learn about the program, sign up if you are eligible and receive your benefits.
