Those who have a formal employment contract or are retired from the National Social Security Institute (INSS) can access some social benefits offered by the government.

The measures already in effect this year provide financial support to citizens in times of financial difficulties.

PIS/PASEP salary bonus
Benefit intended for those who worked with a signed employment contract for at least 30 days of the reference base year, the salary bonus PIS/PASEP can reach up to R$ 1,100.00.

The calculation that establishes the value is equivalent to the number of months worked, multiplied by 1/12 of the value of the minimum wage offered today.

In addition to being required to work formally, to receive the salary bonus it is necessary to meet other requirements, such as:

  • Have received a maximum of two minimum wages;
  • Have been registered with PIS/PASEP for 5 years;
  • Have the data correctly registered in the Annual Social Information Report (RAIS).

PIS/PASEP quotas

Anyone who worked with a formal contract in the private sector or as a civil or military public servant between 1971 and 1988 is entitled to the so-called PIS/PASEP quotas.

The amount is available to those who did not make the withdrawal at that time and have amounts from contributions from that time.

To receive the amount, the first step is to check your PIS/PASEP balance at any Caixa branch using your CPF.

It is important to note that, in the case of deceased shareholders, dependents and heirs may withdraw the amounts upon presentation of documentation proving this position.

FGTS

Workers who have signed up for the anniversary withdrawal option from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) can withdraw part of the fund's balance annually, in their birth month – up to 50%.

Therefore, anyone who wishes to participate in the modality in 2021 must inform Caixa Econômica Federal of their choice by the last day of their birthday month.

Registration is done through the FGTS app or website, Caixa Internet Banking or the state-owned company's self-service terminals.

INSS arrears

INSS retirees and pensioners who requested a benefit review may receive a large amount of back pay. This is because the difference between the initial benefit amount and the updated amount is paid out all at once.

Arrears of up to 60 minimum wages (this year, R$66,000) are paid through RPVs within three months. If the amount owed exceeds this limit, the insured receives a so-called "precatório," which is paid once a year.
