Emergency FGTS – how to request withdrawal of R$ 1,045.00?

Since Monday (7), around 15 million Brazilian workers who have linked accounts of Those who have been eligible for the Guarantee Fund for Length of Service (FGTS) and did not make the emergency withdrawal of R$1.045 can express their regret and request that Caixa release the money again.

To submit the request, you need to use the FGTS app, which is available for Android and iOS mobile phones.

However, those wishing to make this request should be aware that the deadline is December 31st.

This year, due to the novel coronavirus, the government authorized emergency withdrawals from the FGTS (Brazilian employee severance fund) for 60 million people, as a way to compensate private sector workers who lost income or had their earnings reduced during this pandemic. 

In total, approximately [number] were released. R$37.8 billion and approximately R$7.9 billion are still waiting to be withdrawn.

Anyone who has a balance in one of their active or inactive Guarantee Fund accounts and has had an amount of up to one minimum wage transferred to a digital social savings account opened by Caixa exclusively for this purpose is eligible to apply.

The bank has set up a deposit schedule, following the birth months of the account holders, who can withdraw funds 60 days after the deposit.

During this period, workers can move money through the Caixa Tem app. 

Then, according to the schedule, the money can be withdrawn or even transferred to another bank.

The maximum amount that workers can withdraw has been limited by the government to R$1.045.

Due to the pandemic, the right to change your mind is guaranteed until the last day of the year.

This withdrawal is a one-time fee; therefore, no worker can withdraw more than R$1.045, even when adding up the balances of all their linked FGTS accounts.

First, the money is debited from inactive accounts with the lowest balance, then from accounts with higher balances, until it reaches the active account. Those with a balance less than one minimum wage may have their fund emptied.
