All steps of the Bolsa Família update procedure are available at the Social Assistance Reference Centers (Cras) or through the Meu Cadastro Único app.

When Bolsa Família is blocked due to outdated data, the family unit has the opportunity to regularize the data before the benefit is permanently canceled.

How does participation in the program work?
It is important to mention that registration in the Single Registry does not guarantee participation in and immediate receipt of Bolsa Família.
The reason for this is the selection of benefits – made by a computerized system that takes into account the data provided in comparison with the program rules – which can take time.
Families chosen to be part of the program also receive a withdrawal card, the Bolsa Família Card, provided by Caixa Econômica Federal.
Along with it, a pamphlet is also issued containing explanations regarding how to activate it, as well as the schedule for withdrawing benefits.
Who can participate in Bolsa Família?
Bolsa Família aims to help families living in poverty and extreme poverty. Therefore, income-related limits have been established, as follows:
- Families with income per person of up to R$ 89.00;
- Families with income per person between R$ 89.01 and R$ 178.00, provided that they have children and adolescents aged 0 to 17 who are part of this family nucleus.
