What is Popular Telephone?
The Popular Telephone (AICE) is a benefit that is part of the Federal Government's Social Programs.
It was created so that families registered in the Single Registry have access to landline telephony with special conditions, that is, affordable prices.
How does it work?
THE Popular Telephone has a monthly subscription, the base value of this subscription is R$15.00, however, it may vary depending on state or dealership taxes.
This benefit has a monthly allowance of 90 minutes, where you can use these minutes to make local calls, however, this amount is not cumulative.
Therefore, it is important to know how to manage these minutes well so that they don't run out before the next recharge or the month ends and you have used practically nothing.
If the beneficiary wishes to make calls to mobile devices, internationally or nationally, credit will be required.
In fact, if the 90 minutes of the allowance have already run out, you will also need to recharge your landline device to continue using it.
How to request the Popular Telephone Number?
To request this service, firstly, the family must be registered and have their data updated in the Single Registry for at least 2 years.
If there is any change in your family's income or address, it is important that this information is updated as soon as possible, so you can request the Popular Telephone more easily.
The family member responsible must go to the dealership in the region with the following documents: Social Identification Number, known as PIS, CPF, Voter Registration Card or RANI.
The telephone company will carry out a query in the Single Registry database, only then will it know if the requesting family is eligible to contract the Popular Telephone.
If your family is approved, the telephone company has up to 7 days to provide assistance.
However, if there is no physical dealership branch in your area, you can make the request by phone, and you can find this information in the next topic.
What is a dealership?

In this case, it is a landline telephone concessionaire, that is, the company responsible for distributing telephone networks in your region.
Among the main companies capable of providing this service, we find, for example:
- OI Region 1 – 10331
- Telefônica/Vivo – 10315
- Sercomtel – 10343
- CTBC Telecom – 10312
- OI Region 2 – 10314
How much does OI's Popular Phone cost?
OI is one of the largest telephone companies in Brazil, it was recently acquired by Vivo, TIM and Claro.
Customers are gradually being migrated to some of these three operators. There may be changes in prices when the migration is carried out, however, the value of the Popular Telephone of OI is R$16.47 month.
The lowest value of this subscription is R$$13.00, but it varies by state and dealership, as previously mentioned.

To register, look for a CRAS unit or Single Registry office in your city.
Many questions will be asked about the family situation, so it is preferable that the registration be completed by a woman and that she be over 16 years old.

Another way to find out if your family has already been registered is through the Caixa Tem app, just check the “Meu NIS” option.
If you have already registered your family to receive Auxílio Brasil, formerly Bolsa Família, at the time of registration, you will also be informed by the Caixa Tem app.
You can also check if your family is already registered on the Meu CadÚnico website. It's important to always keep your information up to date to avoid losing access to the program's benefits.
However, if your family is already registered in the Single Registry, you can now request the Popular Telephone.
