The Federal Government has been adopting more and more measures aimed at minimizing the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the economy.

So, within these attitudes, there were some changes at the INSS as well and staying aware of them is of fundamental importance.

What changed?

Advance payment of the 13th salary

INSS retirees and pensioners will receive their 13th salary before the scheduled date.

Therefore, depending on the amount the retiree receives from this benefit and the final number of their benefit, the first installment will be paid between April 24th and May 8th.

In turn, the second installment will be deposited into the account between May 25th and June 5th.

Leave due to Covid-19 paid by INSS

Workers who contract the new coronavirus, Covid-19, will have their first days off paid by the INSS.

In general, the first 15 days will be paid by the company, as this is provided for in law 13,982, of April 2, 2020.

INSS agencies closed

In addition to the changes above, an ordinance issued on March 20 determined that INSS agencies must remain closed until April 30, and this period may also be extended.

Therefore, policyholders who need any type of INSS service or have questions should visit the MEU INSS website or access the application available for Android and iOS cell phones.

However, if you prefer, you can still dial 135, which is the INSS number.

Medical examinations by certificate

With agencies closed, cases that require medical examination, such as sickness benefits, for example, may be authorized without the need for an in-person examination.

In this case, the insured must access the Meu INSS website or app to attach the medical report or certificate.

However, this function is not yet available, but, according to the INSS, the changes will occur and are just waiting for legal support.

Advance payment of R$ 1,045 for those who apply for sickness benefit

The INSS was also allowed to advance the monthly minimum wage for those on the sickness benefit waiting list.

Therefore, this amount can be made available for 3 months, starting from the date the law was published, April 2nd, or until the expert assessment is carried out, within the period subject to extension.

In this case, to receive the advance, it is necessary to meet the required period for granting sickness benefit, and it is also essential to present a medical certificate.

According to the law, an act will be published detailing the requirements and means of analyzing these certificates.

Suspension of proof of life

The INSS also suspended for a period of 120 days the so-called “proof of life”, which is a mandatory procedure for insured individuals who receive payment via checking account, savings account or magnetic card.

Therefore, there is no need to appear in person at a branch of the bank paying the benefit.

Emergency aid of R$ 600

In addition, emergency aid of R$ 600.00 will be made available to informal workers and individual Social Security contributors, the unemployed, and also MEIs.
