What is WhatsApp Pay?
By now, you've probably noticed that, with the new WhatsApp update, the R$ icon has become part of the app's chat layout, right?
This little button represents one of WhatsApp's biggest updates in recent times: WhatsApp Pay.
WhatsApp Pay – or WhatsApp Payments – is the payment service created directly within the app.
Developed in partnership with Facebook Pay – one of Facebook's official products – the tool allows users to send and receive money directly through WhatsApp.
This new feature is an excellent option for users, as it allows them to make and receive cash payments quickly, securely, and best of all: free of charge.
The tool, which was released this year, caused quite a stir among users.
With this new feature, users can receive or transfer money to their contacts and make payments for services provided or contracted between individuals, for example.
How to use WhatsApp Pay?
If you, like millions of Brazilians, are not yet familiar with the new tool, we have prepared a special topic to explain how to use this new function.
To use this new service, the user needs to add a card to the application.
So far, the only card models accepted by the platform as payment are prepaid cards, debit cards, or multiple cards.
After registering your card, just open the conversation with the person you want to send the payment to, tap Attach, and then tap Payment.
Then just enter the amount and confirm the transaction.
In the most recent WhatsApp updates, WhatsApp Pay has become its own button, already present on the conversation screen.
Which banks and credit cards are supported on WhatsApp Pay?
So far, not all banks and financial institutions are part of the WhatsApp Pay project.
To make things easier, we've put together a list of banks and institutions that are currently part of the service.
They are:
– Bank of Brazil: Visa
– Banco Inter: Mastercard
– Bradesco: Visa
– Itaú: Mastercard
– Mercado Pago: Visa
– Next: Visa
– Nubank: Mastercard
– Santander: Mastercard
– Sicredi: Mastercard and Visa
– Woop, Sicredi’s digital account: Visa
Are there any payment or transfer limits for WhatsApp Pay?
Initially, the user can send up to R$ 1 thousand per transaction.
As for limits, this new function has 2 types of limits: daily and monthly.
They work for both sending and receiving funds. Below, we explain how each one works:
Daily limit
This limit takes into account the number of transactions carried out.
Within the daily limit, you can receive a maximum of 20 transactions.
Monthly limit
As for the monthly limit, the metric is not calculated using the number of transactions, but rather the maximum amount of money transferred.
The maximum amount is R$1,000 per month. Once this amount is reached, the user will not be able to receive or send money until the end of the month.
It is worth remembering that these limitations are established solely and exclusively by WhatsApp.
The bank or financial institution responsible for the user's account may also establish limits other than those indicated by the platform.
What are the main advantages of using WhatsApp Pay as a payment method?
One of the key factors in the success of a new feature or tool is the benefits it can offer its users.
With this in mind, we've listed some of the main advantages that most attract attention in WhatsApp Pay.
Practicality
The convenience of making and receiving payments is, without a doubt, the feature's strongest point.
Although there are already options available that also offer convenience – such as Pix, for example – this platform can be even more practical and easy.
When making payments through the tool, the user can do so without even having to leave the conversation or use other applications.
There, during the conversation itself, you can make the transfer in a matter of seconds!
Fee-free transactions
Another factor that has always haunted anyone who needs to carry out any type of financial transaction is the fees involved in these operations.
But, these charges are now a thing of the past!
Unlike traditional banks – which have very high fees for certain services – WhatsApp Pay is free of any fees or charges per transaction.
This way, the user feels free to carry out their operations without fear of future charges.
More possibilities
The role is also an excellent option for service providers and people working in independent sales.
With the tool, it becomes much easier for these people to receive their payments.
Is it possible to use credit cards on WhatsApp Pay?
So far, no.
As WhatsApp Pay is a relatively new tool, for now it only offers membership for prepaid, debit, or hybrid cards.
But it's important to keep in mind that nothing prevents this possibility from being included in the platform in a future update.
By using credit cards directly on WhatsApp, payment possibilities would become practically endless.
Depending on user reception and adoption of WhatsApp Pay, this option could become a reality very soon.
What remains for us is to wait for the next chapters and hope that those responsible for the application do not take long to adopt the function of this application.
