This reduction in the number of families benefiting from the program is due to the goal of reducing emergency aid funding. After all, the Emergency Amendment Proposal (PEC) capped the program at R$44 billion.
In 2020, according to Caixa, the government disbursed more than R$290 billion. This amount was distributed to more than 68 million beneficiaries in five installments of R$600.00 and four installments of R$300.00.
Number of beneficiaries of emergency aid
According to previously released information, 46 million people will receive the new 2021 emergency aid payments. Approximately 20 million will receive R$ 150.00. Therefore, this means that 43% of those eligible will have access to this smaller installment. This R$ 150.00 will be allocated to single-member families who are eligible for financial assistance.
In turn, R$ 16.7 million families will receive aid of R$ 250.00, which is intended for those made up of more than one member.
Furthermore, the highest portion is R$ 375.00, which will be passed on to an even smaller group, those made up of female heads of households, which encompasses around 9.3 million women.
Who will receive it in April?
Due to the delay in the PEC, the aid will be paid in April, starting on the 16th, and those who are not part of the Bolsa Família program will receive it first, according to their month of birth.
In turn, Bolsa Família beneficiaries will receive according to the final number of the NIS (Social Identification Number).
