Proof of life is suspended until June 30th

The normative instruction published by the Ministry of Citizenship in the Official Gazette of the Union suspended, until June 30th, the requirement for annual re-registration of public servants, retirees, pensioners, and civilian political amnesty recipients. Technical visits for proof of life verification are also suspended.

In a statement released, the Ministry of Economy said that "the suspension of the proof requirement is a protective measure against the new coronavirus, adopted by the federal government to reduce the possibility of the spread of Covid-19 among beneficiaries, most of whom are elderly and considered more vulnerable to contagion and worsening of the disease."

The suspension of the requirement is one of the measures aimed at preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Ministry of Economy, this suspension does not apply to the re-registration of retirees, pensioners, or political amnesty recipients whose payments were already suspended.

It is important to point out that for other INSS retirees and pensioners, the requirement to provide proof of life becomes valid from June 1st. Only retired public servants, pensioners, and civilian political amnesty recipients will be required to do so from July 1st.

During the suspension period, the Human Resources Management Units of the bodies within the Civil Service System of the Federal Administration may receive requests for the exceptional reinstatement of suspended pension and retirement benefits for retirees, pensioners, or those granted political amnesty.
