Caixa and WhatsApp announce emergency aid service

Those receiving emergency aid will receive information in the coming days, via WhatsApp, regarding deposit, payment, and withdrawal dates for the benefit.

This will happen thanks to an unprecedented partnership between Caixa Econômica Federal and WhatsApp.

Information regarding benefits will be sent from a verified Caixa account. The bank's president, Pedro Guimarães, stated that an average of 500 million free messages will be sent during the payment of the next installments.

Those receiving the aid who registered their cell phone number in the Caixa Tem app will be the ones to receive the messages via WhatsApp.

Users have the autonomy to enable or disable receiving these messages.

Caixa will send messages regarding the credit schedule for the digital savings account, the payment or withdrawal schedule, as well as other information.

Using WhatsApp for messaging will be important to ensure that beneficiaries receive all the information.

Many people do not have internet access and therefore cannot access the Caixa website to get answers to their questions.

“Many of the people who will receive these messages for free are more humble people who wouldn't normally be able to afford [to receive the notifications]. The partnership comes from having WhatsApp, which is the largest mobile communication program in the world, and Caixa, a bank with 146 million active accounts,” said Guimarães.
