This way, the insured can now send the certificate through the website. My INSS or through the application that has the same name.

For those who already use the app, you just need to download the latest update, which is available for Android and iOS.

The ordinance published on Tuesday (07) authorized this automatic advance of one minimum wage per month for applicants for sickness benefit upon submission of a medical certificate.

Therefore, there is no need to schedule or carry out the medical examination at INSS agencies.

This advance payment of sickness benefits was approved by the National Congress as one of the measures to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, a disease caused by the new coronavirus, since in-person services at agencies are suspended.

Therefore, law number 13,982 determined the advance of a minimum wage (R$ 1,045.00) per month for applicants for sickness benefit for 3 months or until the federal medical examination is carried out.

Care when attaching the certificate

Some care must be taken when attaching the certificate to the request for sickness benefit in the amount of R$ 1,045.00:

  • Be without erasures and legible;
  • Contain the signature of the issuing professional and the identification stamp, with the registration of the Professional Council;
  • Contain information regarding the disease or ICD;
  • Contain the period determined for the necessary rest.

Therefore, if the other requirements necessary for the release of the sickness benefit are met, including the waiting period, when required, the advance payment of the monthly amount of R$ 1,045.00 will occur from the start date of the benefit, with a maximum duration of three months.

To request an extension of the advance payment of sickness benefit, the worker must present a new medical certificate.

In some situations, the beneficiary may need to undergo an INSS assessment after the end of the agency's reduced working hours, such as:

  • When the period of absence activity, including requests for extension, exceeds the period of 3 months;
  • When there is no advance payment of sickness benefit based on the medical certificate due to failure to meet the requirements;
  • For the purposes of converting the advance payment into a definitive grant of sickness benefit;
