Emergency aid confirmed for another 3 months
Economy Minister Paulo Guedes confirmed the extension of emergency aid for another 3 months. Now, the payment schedule, which previously ended in July, will continue until October.

However, the number of extra installments still needs to be approved by the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, in partnership with the Minister of Citizenship, João Roma. Together, they will make the decision taking into account the database of the relevant ministry.
Information from the Ministry of Health regarding the pace of COVID-19 vaccination is also a factor being considered. This is because it was one of the arguments presented when mentioning the possibility of extending emergency aid.
The more Brazilians who are immunized, the easier the chances will be for a safe return to the job market. As a result, the country's economic scenario will gradually improve.
Once the emergency aid program ends, the Federal Government may launch a new Bolsa Família program. This is also one of the reasons why extending the emergency aid was considered, given that the text of the new income transfer program has not yet been finalized.
The extra installments of the benefit will support the Brazilian population in situations of social vulnerability amidst a third wave of COVID-19 in Brazilian territory.
Despite Brazil being able to meet the vaccination schedule, which has even been brought forward in some places, the country has once again approached the mark of 2,000 deaths per day. Meanwhile, only 11.71% of the population has received both doses of the vaccine.
It is important to note that despite expectations for emergency aid, the Federal Government will not open new registrations for the extension of the benefit.
