In recent weeks, there has been much talk about the addition of President Jair Bolsonaro's new social project, called Auxílio Brasil.
Thus, the program aims to replace the current Bolsa Família, but there is still interest in maintaining the Covid-19 benefit.
Emergency aid was developed in April 2020 with the aim of minimizing the economic impacts caused by the coronavirus.
Initially, the plan was to grant three benefit installments to unemployed Brazilians without a source of income. However, that same year, seven monthly payments were granted.
Emergency aid 2021
Recently, the federal government approved the extension of the project until the end of October.
This way, the population will have access to seven months of financial assistance from the Union. Even when it resumed in the first half of this year, it was supposed to last until July, but it was extended.
Therefore, the new calendar forecast is that the last payment will be made on October 31st.
Until then, Caixa will grant 3 more installments, with deposits scheduled to begin this Wednesday (18).
Is there a chance of an extension?
So far, there's no certainty. In an interview, Paulo Guedes, Minister of Economy, said he doesn't rule out the possibility of keeping the program running throughout 2022.
According to him, it is necessary to initially assess the impacts of COVID-19 and understand Brazil's economic development before requesting an extension of the benefit.
If the pandemic continues to affect employment and economic indicators, there is a study on maintaining the aid.
