INSS notifies insured persons by letter for benefit review

This week, the INSS (National Social Security Institute) began notifying 1.7 million insured individuals by letter that their benefits had been reviewed and that they need to update their documents.

Therefore, the beneficiary who does not respond within 60 days of receiving the letter will have the benefit payment suspended.

Furthermore, if after the deadline the beneficiary does not respond to the institute for another 30 days, the benefit will no longer be paid permanently.

But after all, what is revision?

In September, the INSS began issuing summons letters, known as "requirement notices," to beneficiaries whose registration data is inconsistent. According to the INSS, the review is linked to pending registration issues.

According to the institute, all types of beneficiaries are undergoing this review.

I received the letter, now what?

The INSS informs in the letter that insured persons must send scanned documents of the benefit holder, attorney or legal representative, through the MEU INSS website.

Therefore, check below what these documents are:

  • CPF;
  • ID;
  • Birth or marriage certificate;
  • Voter registration card;
  • Work permit.

In the case of a survivor's pension, you must submit documents for the deceased insured person and their dependents. A sample letter can also be found on the Meu INSS website.

How do I send documents?

Submitting documents is simple and straightforward. See below for instructions:

  • Visit the website My INSS or application. If this is your first time accessing the application, you will need to register a password;
  • On the home page, search for “update benefit registration data”;
  • The INSS (National Institute of Social Security) will inform you that you must update your contact information. Click "update" and review the information. When finished, click "next";
  • Then just attach the documents.
