Caixa begins paying PIS bonuses into digital savings accounts today

Workers with formal employment contracts but who do not have an account at Caixa Econômica Federal will be able to receive the PIS bonus without having to go to a branch.

This is because the bank will deposit the salary bonus into the digital savings account.

Accounts were opened free of charge at Caixa, without the need to present documents.

Payment through savings was authorized by Law 14,075/2020, enacted at the end of October, which permanently authorizes the payment of various labor and social benefits electronically.

The worker will be able to move money through the application Caixa Tem, which allows you to pay bank slips, household bills and make purchases at partner stores.

Additionally, the app also allows up to three free transfers per month to any bank account.

Those who do not have an account can generate a token (electronic key) at Caixa Tem for withdrawals at self-service terminals, Caixa Aqui correspondents, lottery units and agencies.

Calendar

This week, only workers born between July and November will receive the PIS bonus. Payment for the remaining birth months will be staggered until March of next year.

Furthermore, the calendar will be executed as follows:

Month of birthPayment date
July, August, September, October, NovemberDecember 8th
DecemberDecember 15th
January and FebruaryJanuary 19th
March and AprilFebruary 11th
May and JuneMarch 17th

Caixa clarifies that nothing changes for bank account holders. In this case, the salary bonus will be deposited normally into the employee's account at the financial institution.

Around 2 million workers who did not withdraw their salary bonus in 2019/2020 (base year 2018) will be able to withdraw the benefit until June 30, 2021.

Who is entitled to the PIS bonus?

Formal workers are entitled to the benefit if:

  • They received up to two minimum wages, on average, in 2019;
  • Registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years;
  • With at least 30 days worked in 2019;
  • Correctly informed by the employer in the Annual Social Information Report (Rais/e-Social).
