Disability benefits without a medical examination are over: see what to do.
Although the coronavirus pandemic is not yet over, the benefits established by the Federal Government to deal with the crisis are coming to an end.

Thus, this is the case of the possibility of receiving a minimum wage (R$ 1,045.00) for the insured person who becomes ill and requests temporary disability benefits, formerly known as sickness benefits, without the need to undergo an expert assessment.
The deadline to request the advance payment has already passed and there will be no extension, according to a statement from the Special Secretariat for Social Security and Labor and the INSS (National Institute of Social Security).
In this way, a professional who becomes ill or suffers an accident will only have their benefit released after undergoing a medical examination at the Social Security agencies.
According to the authorities, requests made from Tuesday (1st) onwards follow the rule from before the coronavirus pandemic.
Therefore, you can apply for the benefit online or by calling 135 to schedule the medical examination.
The reason for not extending the advance payment of the minimum wage is that the financial effects of this advance can only last until the end of the year, since the state of public calamity established by the Federal Government lasts until December.
"Decree 10.413/2020 extended the possibility of advance payments until November 30th. This deadline will not be extended, given the need to limit the budgetary and financial effects of the advance payments to the 2020 fiscal year, as part of the measures to combat the pandemic. Insured individuals can schedule medical examinations normally through Meu INSS or by calling 135," says the joint statement.
In-person service
To meet the demand of insured individuals who require expert assessments, the institute announces that, starting Tuesday, 500 experts who had been working from home due to having school-aged children will resume in-person appointments.
"This measure will address the increased demand for expert assessments," the agencies stated.
The possibility of applying for assistance without undergoing an expert evaluation was announced in March.
With this measure, sick workers had to submit a valid medical certificate and could receive the R$ 1,045.00 in advance. For those entitled to a higher amount, the INSS (Brazilian National Social Security Institute) will pay the difference.
So now, the worker needs to access the website of My INSS and register or provide your password, if you are already registered, and schedule a medical examination.
