According to the Ministry of Citizenship, the government will transfer installments of the 2020 emergency aid extension to more than 34,000 beneficiaries.

The releases are the result of a request made by the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the Public Defender's Office of the Union (DPU), which aims to reduce legal proceedings related to the program.

R$$ 46.07 million will be invested for retroactive emergency aid payments. The program's extension, which ran from September to December of last year, credited beneficiaries with installments of R$$ 300.00 and R$$ 600.00. However, many people who previously received the benefits were left without this renewal.

According to the note released by the Ministry of Citizenship, eligible Brazilians will be able to receive up to four installments at once. They will even be able to withdraw and transfer the funds without having to wait any time. The total amount can reach up to R$1,400.

"Agreements with other public institutions are essential for serving all those eligible for Emergency Aid, ensuring process transparency, and combating fraud. The partnership with the CNJ and the DPU avoids litigation, streamlining the granting of the benefit," said Minister of Citizenship João Roma.

Eligibility for 2021

The extension of emergency aid in 2021 was aimed at workers from families who were already receiving the 5 previous installments and who remain eligible according to the rules determined by Provisional Measure No. 1,000, published on September 2, 2020.

In addition to receiving retroactive payments for the extension, the more than 34,000 beneficiaries will have their data processed to verify whether they are eligible for the 2021 aid.
